Edwina is a new member of the CIV everbearing variety family. Not only the characteristic resistance of all CIV varieties, but also the particularly long lasting season, make this everbearer a suitable variety for late summer and autumn production.
Plant: everbearer variety with high chill requirement. The plant has very good vigour, with robust stems and an upright habit, which makes for a clean crop.
Pests and diseases: Edwina has a good tolerance to most common diseases. As with all CIV varieties, the strong root system especially ensures a good resitance to root diseases.
Fruit: Attractive and regularly formed fruit, with big size and bright red colour for the entire picking season. The flavour is sweet and slightly aromatic. The skin is strong, and the fruit has a high firmness, which enhances shelf-life significantly.
Harvest and yield: Edwina starts producing early and continues for a long lasting season during the summer and well into autumn. The total production is even higher than Murano, and the season lasts longer. Picking is very easy, which implies a significant reduction of picking time and costs.
